Emma, the daughter of Matthew and Tammy Studer, is a 2017 graduate of Buckeye Central High School. She is entering her 3rd year of a bachelor's degree in occupational therapy at the University of Findlay.

Emma’s brother inspired her to choose her career path. “Occupational therapy is a career that aims to assist individuals in gaining the ability to complete activities of daily living. We strive to make people independent.” Emma continued, “My brother had cerebral palsy and was not able to talk or walk. At a very young age, I began caring for him and helping out wherever needed. I want to become an OT so that I can assist people like my brother and aid them in living a normal life. Through Colin, I realized that all I wanted to do is help people using my strengths of problem solving and creativity. I want to personally impact someone’s life by giving them my services. Occupational therapy fits with all of my desires and strengths, and I look forward to the day I can start influencing my patients’ lives.” After graduation, Emma plans to use her skills. “I desire to give people hope. I want to see that sense of optimism on each of my patients’ faces as I assist them in being independent,” she stated. “Additionally, I have a passion for mission work specifically in third-world, Spanish-speaking countries. I aspire to give my skills and services to those who cannot financially or for some other means receive it. I do not want these people to have to choose putting food on their family’s table or therapy to become stronger. I do not want to be world-changing; I want to be the person that changes one person’s life at a time.”

Congratulations and good luck in the future, Emma!
