The Community Foundation for Crawford County is pleased to introduce Alexander Lawson, a 2020 recipient of one of the two Dr. Laurie Anne Rhodebeck Memorial Scholarship awards.
Alexander, the son of Gary and Lesley Lawson, is a 2020 graduate of Colonel Crawford High School. He will be attending West Virginia University this fall and studying wildlife and fisheries resources.
What inspired you to choose your intended major?
“I have enjoyed spending time in the outdoors since I was young. When I was six years old, I started attending Nature Camp at the Crawford Park District. Nature Camp was one of the highlights of my summers until I was twelve years old. As twelve years old is the age limit for attending, I started helping with Nature Camp and other Park District activities up until last year. (Nature Camp is cancelled this year.) I chose this major because it will help prepare me for a career in which I can help make sure that other people have the opportunity to have fun in the outdoors.”
What are your career and life goals after you graduate?
“After college, I hope to be either a wildlife officer or a wildlife biologist. I plan on moving back to this part of Ohio after I graduate. Eventually I would like to start a family. In my free time, I will spend time in the outdoors with my friends and family. I would also like to coach track and cross county at one of the local high schools (maybe Colonel Crawford).”
Congratulations and good luck in the future, Alexander!
