2020 Scholarship Recipient Spotlight: Caitlin Koschnick

Posted by Amy Vaughn on Tue, Jul 07, 2020

The Community Foundation for Crawford County is pleased to introduce Caitlin Koschnick, a 2020 recipient of one of the nine Glen and Alice Beers Scholarship awards.

Koschnick, CaitlinCaitlin, the daughter of Travis and Kerri Koschnick, is a 2018 graduate of Colonel Crawford High School. She will be entering her third year of a bachelor’s degree in animal science/pre-vet at The University of Findlay this fall.

What is your favorite aspect of college life?

“I love the freedom of living away from home and learning to live with other people. I enjoy being able to customize my own schedule and do more things I enjoy.”

Would you say most of your learning comes from inside or outside of the classroom?

“My major requires a lot of learning from each setting.  But personally I would say I learn better outside the classroom because I’m applying things I’ve learned and seeing what was taught in the classroom in a real life setting.”

What new interest or courses of study have you discovered at college?

“I recently took a pharmacy elective course this past spring semester. The professor was very welcoming to non-pharmacy majors and I would take another if it fits in my schedule. Major wise, I am very interested in livestock reproduction after taking a required reproduction class.”

In what ways has the college experience changed/improved you?

“I have become more comfortable with speaking in groups and asking for help when needed. Also, getting to know different people on campus has brought me out of my comfort zone.”

What advice would you give an incoming college freshman?

“Get involved in as many things as your schedule allows.  Also, be a familiar face with your professors. They will be the ones there for you when you need it most.”

Congratulations and good luck in the future, Caitlin!
