2020 Scholarship Recipient Spotlight: Owen Zellner

Zellner, OwenThe Community Foundation for Crawford County is pleased to introduce Owen Zellner, a 2020 recipient of one of the seventeen Doug and Renee Leuthold Scholarship awards and one of the eighteen Margaret and Donald Wenner, MD Scholarship awards.

Owen, the son of Ryan and Traci Zellner, is a 2020 graduate of Bucyrus High School/Pioneer Career & Technology Center. He will be attending Hobart Institute of Welding Technology this fall and studying structural and pipeline welding.

What inspired you to choose your intended major?

“I took welding at the Pioneer Career & Technology Center for 2 years to see if that’s what I wanted to do with my life. I enjoyed my experience there and decided to further my education in welding. Welding is an essential skill for numerous fields of employment. The diversity of a welding career opens numerous doors for future employment.”

What are your career and life goals after you graduate?

“After I graduate, I am interested in working the pipeline. This will give me the opportunity to travel and also become financially stable.”
