Posted by Amy Vaughn on Tue, Aug 04, 2020

The Community Foundation for Crawford County is pleased to introduce Riley Moody, a 2020 recipient of one of the two Dr. Laurie Anne Rhodebeck Memorial Scholarship awards and one of the eighteen Margaret and Donald Wenner, MD Scholarship awards.

Moody, RileyRiley, the daughter of Charles and Amy Moody, is a 2018 graduate of Bucyrus High School. She will be entering her third year of a bachelor’s degree in fine arts and graphic design at Mount Vernon Nazarene University this fall.

What is your favorite aspect of college life?

“My classes in the art department are very close knit and personalized. I know everyone in fine arts/graphic design, which makes for a family-type group.”

Would you say most of your learning comes from inside or outside of the classroom?

“During school, I learn the most in my studio classes. Being able to try the techniques I’m learning about for myself instills maximum retention.”

What new interest or courses of study have you discovered at college?

“When I first went to school, I thought I would be strictly graphic design. After taking so many fine arts classes, I realized my passion for it could be taken further.”

In what ways has the college experience changed/improved you?

“College in general has so far taught me to take my abilities seriously and learn to market them.”

What advice would you give an incoming college freshman?

“Trust you gut as far as your major goes, and never follow someone else.”

Congratulations and good luck in the future, Riley!
