House, TeresaThe Community Foundation for Crawford County is pleased to introduce Teresa House, a 2020 recipient of one of the seventeen Doug and Renee Leuthold Scholarship awards and one of the eighteen Margaret and Donald Wenner, MD Scholarship awards.

Teresa, the daughter of Christy Meacham, is a 2018 graduate of Galion High School. She will be entering her third year of a bachelor degree in sports management at Mount Vernon Nazarene University this fall.

What is your favorite aspect of college life?

“I love getting to meet and become friends with so many new people. It’s a great experience to interact with people from so many different places!”

Would you say most of your learning comes from inside or outside of the classroom?

“Most of my learning comes from outside the classroom. Although I learn a lot in my classes, I have definitely learned so many new things from my peers out and about on campus and in our dorms.”

What new interest or courses of study have you discovered at college?

“I have become very interested in yoga at college. I normally wake up early and take about 30 minutes of my morning to relax and get ready for the long day ahead of me.”

In what ways has the college experience changed/improved you?

“I run cross country which has taught me how to have persistence and motivation at a higher level. I have also learned a great deal about organization and staying on top of my work, because it can get stressful.”

What advice would you give an incoming college freshman?

“Always have an open mind, and be willing to participate in all the events the college does.”

Congratulations and good luck in the future, Teresa!
