2010 Crawford County Scholarship Recipients

The Bucyrus Area Community Foundation is pleased to announce the recipients of 2010 scholarships.

The Kevin A. Binau Scholarship

College Attending:  Baldwin-Wallace College
Anticipated Major: Athletic Training and Pre-Physical Therapy
High School Highlights“The past four years at Buckeye Central I have been involved in many extra-curricular activities and strived to succeed academically.  I was a member of the varsity basketball and softball teams, and I gained a lot of live experience from playing them.  When I wasn’t at practice after school, I would either be at a National Honor Society, Art Club, Spanish Club, or leadership meeting. I learned so much in high school, and I don’t believe any other school could have prepared me for my future better than Buckeye Central.”

The John W. Brubaker Jr. Scholarship

College Attending:  Ohio Northern University
Anticipated Major:  Clinical Laboratory Science
High School Highlights“Throughout my four years at Bucyrus High School I have always been involved in Marching band, Pep band, and tennis.  My other activities include National Honor Society, Girls’ Boosters Club, and Key Club.  I have also just recently become involved in Science Club and being a teacher’s aide.”

The James E. Huggins, Sr. & Margaret M. Huggins Agricultural Scholarship

College Attending: The University of Findlay
Anticipated Major:  Animal Science Pre-Vet
High School Highlights“Sports I have participated in include track and field, shot put and discus, also football and basketball cheerleader.  Clubs I participated in include FCA, Leo Club, Art Club, FCCLA, FFA, and National Honor Society.  I was a member of Project B.L.A.C.K. for 4 years.  My volunteer work includes Salvation Army Bell Ringer, Shoebox Christmas, and Adopt a Family.  I have also been in 4-H for 11 years, was a camp counselor for 3 years, and on Jr. Fair Board for 3 years.”

Major: Pre-Agricultural Communications
High School & College Highlights“While I was in high school, I was very active in 4-H and FFA, through which I won numerous awards.  I was named on the Director’s List Fall Quarter at OSU-ATI.  I am also involved in numerous college organizations.”

College Attending:  The Ohio State University-ATI
Major: Agricultural Business
High School & College Highlights: “I graduated from Colonel Crawford High School in 2009.  I played football and swam on the swim team.  I was very involved with 4-H at the Crawford County Fair.  I showed steers, calves, chickens, and turkeys.  I was 2008 Fair King.  Right now, I go to Ohio State ATI where I study Agricultural Business.”

High School Highlights: “During my high school career, I played four years of volleyball, basketball, and softball.  I was also the Vice President of student council.  I was in National Honor Society and JSA.”

The Dustin T. Stover Scholarship

College Attending: Bowling Green State University
Anticipated Major: Education
High School Highlights: “I participated in track for 3 years, football for 4 years, competitive weightlifting, Teen Institute, and Project B.L.A.C.K. (Building Leadership And Creating Kindness).  Community service events I helped with are Swim for Diabetes, Youth Flag Football Camp and coach, and elementary tutor.  Project B.L.A.C.K. events included Talent Show advisor, Salvation Army bell ringing, and Grim Reaper Day.”

Anticipated Major: Social Work
High School Highlights: “Over the past four years I have been involved in many things, both school and community related.  In school, I’ve been involved in: Swim Team, Golf, Volleyball, National Honor Society, Marching, Pep, Jazz, and Concert Band, Royal Scribes, Royal Singers, Drama Club, and French Club.  In the community, I’ve been involved in 4-H, YMCA Swim Team, Harpster UMC Hand Bell and Vocal Choir, Teen Institute, First Evangelist Pietist Youth Group and Bible Quiz Team, Harpster UMC Youth Group and Worship Committee.”
