The Bucyrus Area Community Foundation is pleased to announce the grant allocation for the first half of the year 2011 totaling more than $411,000. Each year, the BACF awards grants fromfour categories; Competitive Grants, Multi-Year Grants, School Endowment Grants and Designated Fund Grants. The Foundation also awards a total of five (5) scholarships annually to Bucyrus and Crawford County senior students.
When reviewing grant applications, the Board of Directors looks at several factors. According to Executive Director Janet Pry, the Board looks at “impact on the community and the number of individuals that will be served. We also look for duplication of effort and try to encourage collaboration whenever possible. Geographic allocation is also a consideration since we serve most of Crawford County.”
The BACF receives an average of 25-40 grant applications per year. “The number of grant requests varies widely each year, and we accept them (grant requests) at various times throughout the year,” Pry said.
