Posted by Janet Pry on Tue, Nov 15, 2011

To celebrate Community Foundation Week 2011, we are spotlighting individuals who serve on our Board of Trustees. We would like to thank these community members for their dedication to help us provide direction for the future of Bucyrus and Crawford County.

Judi Saurers currently serves as Secretary of the Bucyrus Area Community Foundation Board of Trustees and represents the Crestline community. Born in Richland County, Saurers graduated from Plymouth High School and Mansfield General Hospital School of Nursing. In 1963, she married Russell Saurers and relocated to Crestline. As a registered nurse, she was employed by Crestline Community Hospital and Galion Community Hospital. For 20 years, Judi and her husband owned and operated Crestline Nursing Home & Cottages. The couple also built and operated Jolly Pirate Donut Shop & Deli in Crestline for 10 years.

The #1 thing Judi likes most about Crawford County is the environment and the opportunity it affords to teach strong morals, ethics and values to young people.

"I have appreciated the rural area of Crawford County and small town environment for my children and grandchildren to learn the important values in life; honor and respect. Their roots will always be a benefit to them in their life."

She believes that community members should support the BACF for one simple reason; opportunities.

"The Bucyrus Area Community Foundation provides many Crawford County organizations and residents with opportunities to access grants and scholarships for a better quality of life."
