The Bucyrus Area Community Foundation and the Crawford County Teen Institute program have partnered to announce the availability of a $1,000 grant available to the non profit agencies, schools, and municipalities in Crawford County.
In an effort to provide funding to a project and teach youth the importance of charity and giving back, the Bucyrus Area Community Foundation approached the Crawford County Teen Institute (TI) program, a drug free leadership program that serves the high school students in Crawford County, about working together to develop a Youth Philanthropy Grant. “We are very pleased that the Bucyrus Area Community Foundation and its director, Janet Pry, offered this unique opportunity to our students,” shares Cindy Clouner, prevention coordinator for Marion-Crawford Prevention Programs, the nonprofit agency that coordinates the TI program. “Our program often looks for grants to continue and expand programming. With this partnership our students are able to see the other side of the grant process and make decisions that are usually the role of adults,” said Clouner.
Teen Institute’s Youth Advisory Board, made of student representatives from each high school in Crawford County, was tasked with the challenge to develop the grant’s parameters, an application for the grant and will be responsible for selecting the recipient. The Bucyrus Area Community Foundation Youth Philanthropy Fund is providing the funds for the grant.
Eligible projects must directly or indirectly benefit youth.
