The Community Foundation for Crawford County is pleased to introduce Carla Bennett, a 2019 recipient of three Pry Scholarship awards, one for each semester.

Carla, the daughter of Carl and Bunita Brady, is a 1991 graduate of Bucyrus High School. She is attending the Crawford Success Center, a satellite of the North Central State College located in Bucyrus, and enrolled in the new LPN program.
Carla was inspired to choose nursing by her own patient experience. “I have been a patient [and am] a 7 year cancer survivor,” she stated. “I have received exceptional care and poor care. When the opportunity came up to go back to school, I wanted to care for other cancer patients with …dignity and compassion.” After graduating with her LPN, Carla plans to continue her schooling. She wants to get her bachelor’s degree and become an oncology nurse.
When asked to describe what she is enjoying most at college right now, Carla stated, “Learning how everything is so interconnected in the human body and that balance is vital for health, both mental and physical – It’s amazing!”
Carla’s advice to any non-traditional students contemplating taking college classes: “Absolutely go for it! The only way you fail in chasing your dreams is not to even try.”
Congratulations and good luck in the future, Carla!
