2021 Scholarship Recipient Spotlight: Kearston Hulsmeyer

Hulsmeyer, KearstonThe Community Foundation for Crawford County is pleased to introduce Kearston Hulsmeyer, a 2021 recipient of one of the two Holmes Liberty Alumni Scholarship awards and one of the four Wynford FFA Rising Sun Scholarship awards.

Kearston, the daughter of Christopher and Amber Hulsmeyer, is a 2021 graduate of Wynford High School. She will be attending Rhodes State College this fall and studying dental hygiene and business administration.

What inspired you to choose your intended major?

“As a child I was slightly backwards when came to having to go to an appointment. More often than not, I preferred to go to the dentist rather than the doctor. This is something that has stuck with me into adulthood. I've also always known that I wanted to help people in some way, so I was able to mix these two together with dental hygiene. I love helping others boost their confidence, so being able to help do that with a smile is something that I knew I would love!”

What are your career and life goals after you graduate?

“My goals for my career are to find a location and environment that I truly love and work in pediatrics. My passion for kids cannot be set aside, so my ultimate goal is to become a Registered Dental Hygienist with a focus in Pediatrics. It would be the best case scenario if I could work in an office that only sees patients ages 0-18.”

Congratulations and good luck in the future, Kearston!
