Ackerman, LydiaThe Community Foundation for Crawford County is pleased to introduce Lydia Ackerman, the 2021 recipient of the Alyssa Pine Memorial Scholarship award and a recipient of one of four Kenneth Cummins Scholarship awards.

Lydia, the daughter of Ben and Laura Ackerman, is a 2021 graduate of Buckeye Central High School. She will be attending The Ohio State University-Mansfield this fall and studying early childhood education.

What inspired you to choose your intended major?

“When I was younger, I always told my mom I wanted to be a teacher just like my elementary teachers. I have had so many amazing and inspiring teachers who change lives every day, and I want to do the same. Also, my aunt has been a teacher for many years, and I have always loved helping her set up her classroom.”

What are your career and life goals after you graduate?

“I hope to return to Crawford County and become an elementary teacher. I hope to change students' lives every single day. I would love to continue my education to get my master's, and eventually become an administrator or principal.”

Congratulations and good luck in the future, Lydia!
