Moody, RileyThe Community Foundation for Crawford County is pleased to introduce Riley Moody, a 2021 recipient of one of the 19 Margaret and Donald Wenner, MD Scholarship awards.

Riley, the daughter of Charles Moody and Amy O’Connell, is a 2018 graduate of Bucyrus High School. She will be entering her fourth year of a bachelor’s degree in art and graphic design at Mount Vernon Nazarene University this fall.

What is your favorite aspect of college life?

“I enjoy being a part of the art department at Mount Vernon and being around people with similar interests as me. It is nice to be able to have a personal connection with my professors as well, since the school is small.”

What new interest or courses of study have you discovered at college?

“Being in the art department, I have had to learn several different mediums such as printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, painting, drawing, and photography. Being well versed in creative subjects is a large goal of mine.”

In what ways has the college experience changed/improved you?

“College has given me a broader world view because of the diverse groups of people I've met and shared experiences with. I also had the chance to tour Italy with the art department and discovered that I love to travel and understand the beginnings of the world of art and architecture.”

What advice would you give an incoming college freshman?

“College and study is important but always make time for rest. It pays off to not be overwhelmed every day and establish a good ratio of work to relaxation.”

Congratulations and good luck in the future, Riley!
