2022 Scholarship Recipient Spotlight: Isis Wagner

Posted by Rachel Jarvis on Tue, Jul 19, 2022

Isis Wagner The Community Foundation for Crawford County is pleased to introduce Isis  Wagner, a 2022 recipient of one of the four Crawford County Sports Hall of  Fame Scholarship awards and one of the five Kenneth Cummins Scholarship  awards.

Isis, the daughter of Josh and Alisha Wagner, is a 2022 graduate of Buckeye  Central High School. She will be attending Indiana Institute of Technology this  fall and studying Child Development.

What inspired you to choose your intended major?

"Originally, my love for history inspired me to follow a path to become an educator. Since history was my favorite subject in school, literature, and movies, I wanted to pursue this interest to truly find my passion and a job I would absolutely love. So, I thought the best way to continue my love for history was to become an educator and become a history teacher, especially for high schoolers. The college I will be attending, Indiana Tech, does not have education as a major. Because of this, I decided to major in child development. I believe this will give me a true foundation in directly interacting, influencing, and caring for the student I will be teaching. Overall, my love for history slowly became the main inspiration for majoring in child development."

What are your career and life goals after you graduate?

"After graduating college, I would love to become a history teacher, mainly for high schoolers. As a side job, I want to coach the students I teach in track and field, especially sprints. I mainly have a big dream of having a small family with plenty of pets, country space, and a loving environment. This environment is something I hope to find in my personal, professional, and public life."

Congratulations and good luck in the future, Isis!
