Keenan SharrockThe Community Foundation for Crawford County is pleased to introduce Keenan Sharrock, a 2024 recipient of one of the 19 Doug and Renee Leuthold Scholarship awards and one of the 20 Margaret and Donald Wenner, MD Scholarship awards.

Keenan, the son of Courtney Aaron Sharrock, is a 2020 graduate of Colonel Crawford High School. He is in his fifth year of a Bachelor's Degree in Landscape Architecture at The Ohio State University.

What is your favorite aspect of college life and why?

"My favorite aspect of college life has to be clubs. I joined club swim and it changed my college experience for the best. Not only did I meet a lot of people that have the same interests as myself, I got to experience new pools, fun practices, and all around a new side of swimming that I hadn't experienced yet. My university has a lot of clubs for people to join that aren't club sports. It's a great way to connect with people outside your major that you might not meet otherwise."

What new interests or course of study have you discovered at college?

"I started college with the mindset that I was going to get mechanical and electrical engineering degrees; however, I found an architecture lecture way more enjoyable than anything I was taking and would take for the rest of my years at this university. This lecture had opened a new world that I hadn't thought about. Through this, I learned of landscape architecture, which felt more like the path I was mean to go down."

In what way has the college experience changed/improved you?

"College has changed me by aiding my time management skills. At the start of my college career, I was struggling to find times for friends and family while I was studying. Now, I can manage my time to get projects done and still have a social life."

What advice would you give an incoming college freshman?

"My advice to incoming college freshmen would be to make friends with your roommate. They're more than likely going to be one of your best friends for the rest of your college career."

What is one item on your bucket list and why?

"One item on my bucket list is to come back and obtain a Master's in Architecture."

Congratulations and good luck in the future, Keenan!
