Logan HanesThe Community Foundation for Crawford County is pleased to introduce Logan Hanes, a 2024 recipient of one of the four Robert Schwaderer Scholarship awards.

Logan, the son of Richard Hanes and Amy Hanes, is a 2023 graduate of Buckeye Central High School. He is in his second year of an Associate's Degree in Engineering Technology at The Ohio State University- Mansfield Campus.

What is your favorite aspect of college life and why?

"My favorite aspect of college life is meeting all the new people and gaining new connections. I have been exposed to mentors in the area that perform and execute jobs that I would be interested in doing upon obtaining my degree. These mentors give great insight on what the job force is like."

What new interests or courses of study have you discovered at college?

"I have found out that I really enjoy machining. I took a machining class in college where I ran manual lathes and mills. In this class, I made parts that I could use. For example, I made a tap wrench completely from scratch. I really enjoyed learning the machining side of manufacturing."

In what way has the college experience changed/improved you?

"The college experience has made me become more diverse. Learning new things and being pushed to be around new people has really expanded my horizons. I have learned many new things through my classes, mentors, and classmates around me."

What advice would you give an incoming college freshman?

"One piece of advice I would give is to study hard and be determined. It is easy to fall behind in college, but if you push through and stay on top of things you can get through just fine."

What is one item on your bucket list and why?

"One item on my bucket list is to travel and make it to all of the U.S. National Parks. I have been to a few so far, and I have enjoyed everything about them. Completing the list will be a hard task, but I hope someday I will be able to accomplish it."

Congratulations and good luck in the future, Logan!
