Luke TinnermeierThe Community Foundation for Crawford County is pleased to introduce Luke Tinnermeier, a 2024 recipient of one of the two Marvis Schaaf Scholarship awards.

Luke, the son of Scott Tinnermeier and and Julie Tinnermeier, is a 2024 graduate of Galion High School. He will be attending the Ohio Northern University College of Engineering this fall and studying Computer Science.

What inspired you to choose your intended major?

"Ever since I was young I have had a fascination with programming. I started making my own primitive websites at the age of seven and just expanded my knowledge from there! There are so many unique challenges that come with programming which make me enjoy it even more and contributed to me wanting to make it my career of choice from a young age."

What are your career and life goals after you graduate?

"After I graduate, I wish to simply be employed at a decent company for a few years, but over time, move over to a company with a more eco-centric focus. I know that climate advocacy and programming may seem like an odd hybrid, but it is what I wish to do with my life: use my knowledge of computers to help with the climate crisis. Eventually, I would also like to settle down and start a family and maybe even my own company. But who knows what all the future has to hold?"

Congratulations and good luck in the future, Luke!
