Abbigail MartinThe Community Foundation for Crawford County is pleased to introduce Abbigail Martin, a 2025 recipient of one of the six Arlene H. Smith Scholarship awards, the Dorothy Sherer Flohr Scholarship award, and one of the three Dr. Joseph and Susan Shadeed Scholarship awards.

What is your favorite aspect of college life and why?

"My favorite aspect of college life is the independence it provides. It has helped me grow more confident, responsible, and discover who I am, as well as helped me to find my calling."

What new interests or courses of study have you discovered at college?

"New interests that I discovered at college were anything to do with the human body. I originally went to college for graphic design, but quickly changed to nursing and have loved everything that I have learned thus far. The human body is truly amazing for all it can do!"

In what way has the college experience changed/improved you?

"College has helped me become more confident, independent, and adaptable. It has challenged me to step out of my comfort zone and grow both personally and academically. It has also broadened my horizon by diversifying my experiences."

What advice would you give an incoming college freshman?

"Advice that I would give to an incoming freshman is to get involved, give yourself grace, and become comfortable with the uncomfortable. You do not need to have everything figured out. College is a time to grow, explore, and figure out who you are."

What is one item on your bucket list and why?

"One item on my bucket list is to travel to Lake Como in Italy. I am a huge Star Wars fan, and one of my favorite scenes in Star Wars is a wedding that was filmed at Lake Como!"

Congratulations and good luck in the future, Abbigail!
