Elle CassaroThe Community Foundation for Crawford County is pleased to introduce Elle Cassaro, a 2025 recipient of one of the six Arlene H. Smith Scholarship awards.

Elle, the daughter of Angela Nicole Gerike and Sean Raymond Cassaro, is a 2025 graduate of Wynford High School. She is attending The Ohio State University- Marion this fall and studying Nursing.

What inspired you to choose your intended major?

"What inspired me to choose nursing as my major was my great grandmother Meme. When I was younger, she became really sick, which caused her to be in and out of the hospital. I would visit quite frequently to check on her and make her feel loved. As time went on, I started to realize how much the nurses do to care for their patients. I loved seeing how the patients felt comfortable and safe while at the hospital. I knew that one day I wanted to give patients the same kind of care, so the visits to the hospital weren't frightening. I chose nursing as my major to hopefully make a difference in people's lives."

What are your career and life goals after you graduate?

"After I graduate from Wynford, my plans are to attend The Ohio State University- Marion in the fall to attain my Bachelor's of Science in Nursing. After I complete my degree, I want to start out as a travel nurse. I want to be able to help people all over the world. After travel nursing for awhile, I would like to become a CRNA."

Congratulations and good luck in the future, Elle!
