The Community Foundation for Crawford County is pleased to introduce Eva Feasel, a 2025 recipient of one of the 20 Margaret and Donald Wenner, MD Scholarship awards.
Eva, the daughter of Corinna Joe Diaz and Shawn Nicholas Feasel, is a 2022 graduate of Buckeye Central High School. She is in her first year of a Master's Degree in Social Work at The Ohio State University.
What is your favorite aspect of college life and why?
"My favorite aspect of college life is the freedom to choose specific topics to become intensely educated on, while still learning general curriculum. I really enjoy being surrounded by people who are interested in similar topics and want to see each other succeed."
What new interests or courses of study have you discovered at college?
"College has introduced me to many new topics- food chemistry, anthropology, international social work, pseudoscience history, language learning, and of course, college football. Go Bucks!"
In what way has the college experience changed/improved you?
"So far, my college experience has provided a chance to reinvent myself and find what I truly enjoy in life without the influence of the environment in which I have spent the majority of my life. I have been very fortunate to have so many opportunities to try new things."
What advice would you give an incoming college freshman?
"I would advise incoming college freshmen to focus on their studies, but get involved on campus, too. At OSU, there are a ton of dedicated groups to even the most niche of interests. Being involved can help you meet new friends, unlock new opportunities for yourself, and stay on top of your college life. Remember you are there to become a better you!"
What is one item on your bucket list and why?
"One item on my bucket list is to live in another country for an extended period of time. I studied abroad in Miraflores- Lima, Peru, which was an impactful experience, and I would love to move somewhere else in South America for a few months!"
Congratulations and good luck in the future, Eva!
