Matthew HeefnerThe Community Foundation for Crawford County is pleased to introduce Matthew Heefner, a 2025 recipient of one of the 10 Kenneth Cummins Scholarship awards.

Matthew, the son of Tamara Sue Heefner and Mark Allen Heefner, a 2025 graduate of Buckeye Central High School. He is attending Ohio Northern University and studying Mechanical Engineering.

What inspired you to choose your intended major?

"I was inspired to choose mechanical engineering as my major because as a kid, I was always designing stuff, whether it be with Legos or on games such as Minecraft. My father also played a big role in choosing mechanical engineering as he is a mechanic and working with him on vehicles made me realize I want to learn how different machines work."

What are your career and life goals after you graduate?

"After graduating from college, I hope to find a job in some sort of field hopefully related to the auto industry. I aspire one day to be living somewhere on the coast close to the ocean helping design parts on different vehicles."

Congratulations and good luck in the future, Matthew!
