Dustin, the son of Terry and Renee McMillen, is a 2005 graduate of Bucyrus High School. He started his college career attending the Crawford Success Center, a satellite of the North Central State College located in Bucyrus, but this fall will be attending North Central State College’s main campus in Mansfield and studying social work.

Dustin was inspired by his current employment. “I currently work in the social work field as a case manager,” he stated. “I love my job and cannot imagine doing anything else. The good I am able to do for people is very rewarding.” After graduating with an associate’s degree, Dustin plans to continue working in “the job I love to do” while pursuing a bachelor’s degree in social work at The Ohio State University’s Mansfield campus. “With a bachelor’s degree and my expanded skills, I will be able to further my career into crisis work.”

When asked to describe what he is enjoying most at college right now, Dustin stated, “Meeting new people - there are a wide variety of people who all have different backgrounds and stories. I’m usually the oldest in the class, so I bring a new prospective to the younger students.”

Dustin’s advice to any non-traditional students contemplating taking college classes: “It may be hard at first, but it’s all worth it in the end. Just keep pushing forward and you’ll get through.”

Congratulations and good luck in the future, Dustin!
