2020 Scholarship Recipient Spotlight: Alexis Adams

Posted by Amy Vaughn on Tue, Aug 11, 2020

The Community Foundation for Crawford County is pleased to introduce Alexis Adams, a 2020 recipient of one of the seventeen Doug and Renee Leuthold Scholarship awards and one of the eighteen Margaret and Donald Wenner, MD Scholarship awards.

Adams, AlexisAlexis, the daughter of Trent Adams and Amanda Bachtell, is a 2020 graduate of Bucyrus High School. She will be attending Ohio University this fall and studying film.

What inspired you to choose your intended major?

“I have always had an interest in the art of storytelling, but there is just something about the stories told through film that can’t be found in art or in books. Movies are remarkable in the way they can transport viewers into different time periods or entirely new worlds, providing them with an escape from the drama and struggles of everyday life. At the same time, they can spread positive messages, something I feel we need more of in society…Movies feed my creative desires while providing me a way to help people escape their struggles (even if temporarily), and prove to people that their past and background doesn’t define them; underdogs don’t have to remain underdogs.”

What are your career and life goals after you graduate?

“After I graduate from college, I would like to move to Florida to be a film director for Universal Studios or Disney. Eventually I would love to either work on the set of or direct a Marvel movie. As for my more generalized/life-related goals, I would like to own a fox. Additionally, I would love to travel the world to places like Japan, Hawaii, Paris and the bioluminescent beach at The Maldives.”

Congratulations and good luck in the future, Alexis!
