The Community Foundation for Crawford County is pleased to introduce Anissa Smith-Sublett, a 2020 recipient of one of the two Crawford County Sports Hall of Fame Scholarship awards.
Anissa, the daughter of Jason Sublett, is a 2020 graduate of Galion High School. She will be attending the North Central State College this fall and studying to be a registered nurse.
What inspired you to choose your intended major?
“I have a family member who is a nurse practitioner midwife, and I have always been intrigued with her schooling, the needed skills, and her day to day life in the profession. She has been a role model to me, and I have always wanted to follow in her footsteps. In seventh grade for a school project, I decided to job shadow her. I wore scrubs, met all of her coworkers, and went on a tour of Mount Carmel Hospital. I participated in an ultrasound and even got to experience the birth of a healthy baby boy. At that moment, the deal was sealed, and I knew that this is my dream job and that this is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.”
What are your career and life goals after you graduate?
“After I get my registered nurse degree and graduate from North Central State College, I plan to go onto further schooling at Ashland University. I plan to go onto further schooling so I can become a nurse practitioner midwife, like I always wanted to be since I was in seventh grade. I know it will be a challenge, but I have enough determination to get there. My goal as a nurse practitioner midwife is to really inspire and help people, and I cannot wait to get there. I would like to someday work at Mount Carmel Hospital in Columbus and be the best that I can be.”
Congratulations and good luck in the future, Anissa!
