2020 Scholarship Recipient Spotlight: Brandel Boyd

Posted by Amy Vaughn on Wed, Aug 05, 2020

The Community Foundation for Crawford County is pleased to introduce Brandel Boyd, a 2020 recipient of one of the seventeen Doug and Renee Leuthold Scholarship awards.

Boyd, BrandelBrandel, the daughter of Brian and Denise Baldridge, is a 2006 graduate of Mansfield Sr. High School. She will be entering her first year of a Doctorate of Public Administration degree at Liberty University this fall.

What is your favorite aspect of college life?

“Learning! I am a lifelong learner and appreciate any new information I can obtain.”

Would you say most of your learning comes from inside or outside of the classroom?

“Outside of the classroom because the concepts we get inside the classroom really stick when they can be applied to real experience. On that note, both strengthen one another.”

What new interest or courses of study have you discovered at college?

“Given that my program is in public administration, many of my classes discuss concepts of Federalism, and I really enjoy the concept as someone who considers themselves a true patriot.”

In what ways has the college experience changed/improved you?

“College, specifically online college, is the reason I’m so good with time management. It has forced me to really appreciate how I spend my time and what my means are.”

What advice would you give an incoming college freshman?

“Never be afraid to talk to your teachers. They can be very understanding people and provide excellent insight on things too!”

Congratulations and good luck in the future, Brandel!
