Cotsamire, MariahThe Community Foundation for Crawford County is pleased to introduce Mariah Cotsamire, a 2020 recipient of one of the two Kiwanis Kahle-Wenner Scholarship awards, the Rollie & Esther Wilson Scholarship award, and one of the three Susan Campbell Memorial Scholarship awards.

Mariah, the daughter of Michael and Mary Cotsamire, is a 2020 graduate of Colonel Crawford High School. She will be attending the Capital University this fall and studying nursing.

What inspired you to choose your intended major?

“I have always been pretty set on entering into healthcare or the medical field because those careers can enable me to help people hands-on. It wasn’t until junior year in Anatomy class that I decided I wanted to study nursing. I job shadowed my sister that year as well and really enjoyed it! She inspired me to choose this major and career path as well. I see how broad the spectrum is of various ways you can help people and the jobs you can get. Nursing felt like the perfect major for me because of my love for health science and passion to help people.”

What are your career and life goals after you graduate?

“After I graduate with my Bachelors of Science in nursing, I plan to continue working to gain experience in an ER setting. The goal is to then return to school to get my master’s degree and become either a Certified Nurse Practitioner or a Nurse Anesthetist.   Later on down the road, I hope to someday be married and start a family. I also hope to be helping with advancements in the healthcare and medical field – whatever they may be.”

Congratulations and good luck in the future, Mariah!
