Ramey, Nicholas

The Community Foundation for Crawford County is pleased to introduce Nicholas Ramey, a 2020 recipient of one of the five Kenneth Cummins Scholarship awards.

Nicholas, the son of Ryan and Julie Ramey, is a 2020 graduate of Buckeye Central High School. He will be attending North Central State College this fall and studying mechanical engineering.

What inspired you to choose your intended major?

“My freshman year of high school I got involved in robotics. I became very good with the building aspect and even made two trips to the state competition. Through my senior year in high school, I wasn’t very sure what I wanted to do, so I talked with my robotics teacher who said he thought an engineering field would suit me best. After doing some research, I settled on NC State College because I wanted to stay close to home and save a little money for at least my first year of college.”

What are your career and life goals after you graduate?

“After graduating I plan to stay near my home of New Washington. I would like to get a job around here and eventually start a family. My end goal is to do cabinetry someday. I made a hobby of woodworking a few years back and fell in love with it. I even took woodworking in 4-H earning 1st place and a trip to the state fair 3 times.”

Congratulations and good luck in the future, Nicholas!
