Binau Scholarship and the Larry Schiefer Memorial Scholarship. ![Kurek_Thomas-cropped](https://www.cfcrawford.org/hs-fs/hubfs/2020%20Scholarship%20Winners/Kurek_Thomas-cropped.jpg?width=300&name=Kurek_Thomas-cropped.jpg)Thomas, the son of Edward and Karissa Kurek, is a 2020 graduate of Wynford High School. He will be attending Purdue University this fall and studying engineering.   **What inspired you to choose your intended major?** “My experiences in 4-H were instrumental to my choosing my major. In junior high, I participated in several NXT robotics projects centered around solving complex problems in the pursuit of a clear goal. Whether it was fixing the design of my robot to complete a set of tasks more efficiently or correcting programming complications, I loved solving problems to create something new. It was then that I discovered that engineering was the path for me.” **What are your career and life goals after you graduate?** “My goal is to become a mechanical engineer with a focus on robotics. I want to utilize the skills I gain during my college career to become an innovator. I want to use the power of math, science and critical thinking skills to create new products that make our lives better than ever before.” Congratulations and good luck in the future, Thomas!
