2020 Scholarship Recipient Spotlight: Tyler Bishop

Posted by Amy Vaughn on Fri, Jul 17, 2020

The Community Foundation for Crawford County is pleased to introduce Tyler Bishop, a 2020 recipient of one of the two Crawford County Sports Hall of Fame Scholarship awards and one of the eighteen Margaret and Donald Wenner, MD Scholarship awards.

Bishop, TylerTyler, the son of Scott Bishop and Erica Halm, is a 2020 graduate of Bucyrus High School. He will be attending the University of Toledo this fall and studying mechanical engineering.

What inspired you to choose your intended major?

“I was inspired to pursue mechanical engineering by my love for math and science. Although math is the least favorite class of many high school students, it has always been the subject I enjoy the most. My father is an engineer, so I have learned a lot about his job over the years. I have also always been interested in discovering how and why objects interact with each other the way they do. I am excited to further explore the world of engineering in college and for the long road ahead.”

What are your career and life goals after you graduate?

“After I graduate college, my plan is to enter the workforce in a mechanical engineering position. I plan on making good connections during college co-ops in order to accomplish this goal. As far as long term goals, I would like to save enough money to buy my own house in the future. I would also like to start a family once I am financially stable and ready. ”

Congratulations and good luck in the future, Tyler!
