Alexander, the son of Gary and Lesley Lawson, is a 2020 graduate of Colonel Crawford High School. He will be entering his second year of a bachelor’s degree in wildlife and fisheries resources and soil science at West Virginia University this fall. **What is your favorite aspect of college life?** “My favorite aspect of college is the opportunity that I have had to meet new people. I have been able to make new friends and meet people who have similar interests as I do. I have also been able to meet professionals in my field.” **What new interest or courses of study have you discovered at college?** “My Wildlife and Fisheries Resources Major required me to take a Soil Science course. I ended up enjoying the class so much that I added Soil Science as my minor.” **In what ways has the college experience changed/improved you?** “The college experience has really helped me to learn how to talk to people better and has improved my communication skills. Since I went to a school in a different state, I did not know anyone in West Virginia before I went there in the fall. This has forced me to talk to other people and make new friends.” **What advice would you give an incoming college freshman?** “I would tell an incoming freshman to get involved in as many clubs, groups, or organizations as they can. Clubs, groups, and organizations are a great way to meet new people and have fun while in school. I was amazed at the variety of student organizations that ranged from Archery to Beekeeping to Club Track.” Congratulations and good luck in the future, Alexander!
