Brown, ChaseThe Community Foundation for Crawford County is pleased to introduce Chase Brown, a 2021 recipient of one of the 19 Doug and Renee Leuthold Scholarship awards.

Chase, the son of Steven Brown and Stacee Gimlich, is a 2019 graduate of Buckeye Central High School. He will be entering his third year of a bachelor’s degree in marketing at The Ohio State University this fall.

What is your favorite aspect of college life?

“I love the feeling of being on campus. I am surrounded by such a diverse student population that consists of individuals from all walks of life, yet we all share one thing in common: A love for the Buckeyes. From playing guitar in the Oval for my friends to longboarding with my freshman roommate across campus, my favorite aspect of college life is the people and connections I have made.”

What new interest or courses of study have you discovered at college?

“As far as interests, I have picked up longboarding and skateboarding during my two years so far in college. I have found that I want to explore film/videography alongside screenwriting as courses of study.”

In what ways has the college experience changed/improved you?

“College has forced me to come out of my shell. I have had to become comfortable being uncomfortable. I feel much more outgoing and willing to step out of my comfort zone, and I am so very thankful that Ohio State helped me do that.”

What advice would you give an incoming college freshman?

“Go out and meet people. Pick up a hobby, join clubs, and do not just coop up in your dorm room. Try not to party all the time either; I get it, I know it's inevitable, but I swear that there is so much more out there that will make you feel alive. Find your passion, make heartfelt connections, and keep in touch with those you love. Good luck to you. I promise you will do great. Go bucks!”

Congratulations and good luck in the future, Chase!
