Pfeifer, CiearaThe Community Foundation for Crawford County is pleased to introduce Cieara Pfeifer, a 2021 recipient of one of the nine Glen and Alice Beers Scholarship awards.

Cieara, the daughter of Darren and Chrystal Pfeifer, is a 2018 graduate of Colonel Crawford High School. She will be entering her fourth year of a bachelor’s degree in computer science at Kent State University this fall.

What is your favorite aspect of college life?

“My favorite aspect of college life is the freedom because you get to discover what you like and who you are without any pressure from outside sources. You work on your own time and do pretty much whatever you want whenever you want which is nice.”

What new interest or courses of study have you discovered at college?

“A new interest that I discovered was Forensic Anthropology. I took a few courses to begin a minor in it, and it was super interesting to learn about bones and how crimes are solved and handled.”

In what ways has the college experience changed/improved you?

“It has changed me by making me more independent. I noticed that I don't rely on my parents as much as I used to when I started college. It's fun to see yourself grow into an adult and into your profession.”

What advice would you give an incoming college freshman?

“Please go to class and do your work - it makes the world of difference. Stay organized because a lot will be going on, and it is important to meet those deadlines, but also have fun!”

Congratulations and good luck in the future, Cieara!
