2021 Scholarship Recipient Spotlight: Karley Spears

Spears, KarleyThe Community Foundation for Crawford County is pleased to introduce Karley Spears, a 2021 recipient of one of the nineteen Doug and Renee Leuthold Scholarship awards and one of the nineteen Margaret and Donald Wenner, MD Scholarship awards.

Karley, the daughter of Chad Spears and Jennifer Metzger, is a 2021 graduate of Bucyrus High School. She will be attending Marion Technical College this fall and studying nursing.

What inspired you to choose your intended major?

“I love helping others and making sure everybody is taken care of. Also, when I have babysat kids, I cared for the kids as if they were my own, making sure I did everything in my power to ensure they were happy and healthy.”

What are your career and life goals after you graduate?

“After I graduate high school, I plan to attend Marion Technical College to become a registered nurse. After obtaining my bachelor's degree in nursing, I hope to further my education and become an anesthesiologist.”
