Bruce, LeahThe Community Foundation for Crawford County is pleased to introduce Leah Bruce, a 2021 recipient of one of the six Merle and Peg Hutson Scholarship awards.

Leah, the daughter of Douglas and Kris Bruce, is a 2021 graduate of Crestline High School. She will be attending Kent State University this fall and majoring in education.

What inspired you to choose your intended major?

“I always had a lot of respect for my teachers growing up. My mom who teaches at Crestline High School always showcased the reality of being a teacher. It is a lot of hard work and dedication, but it's worth it to make a difference in someone’s life. I wish that everyone can have amazing teachers like the ones that taught me at CHS! They all inspire me to pursue my major in education at Kent State University.”

What are your career and life goals after you graduate?

“My career goal after graduating from Kent State University is to come back to the local area to find a job either as a teacher or school counselor. I hope to settle down in my hometown- Crestline. My biggest life goal is to travel. I want to see all fifty states and go all over the world to experience different cultures. Other than my future career and traveling, I just want to spend time with my family and friends.”

Congratulations and good luck in the future, Leah!
