Hartschuh, LeviThe Community Foundation for Crawford County is pleased to introduce Levi Hartschuh, a 2021 recipient of one of the four Wynford FFA Rising Sun Scholarship awards.

Levi, the son of David and Leah Hartschuh, is a 2021 graduate of Wynford High School. He will be attending Wilmington College this fall and studying agriscience education.

What inspired you to choose your intended major?

“My inspiration for what drove me to major in agriscience education at Wilmington College was my ag teachers, Mrs. Martin and Mr. Hoffman. Throughout my time at Wynford, I have seen the impacts agriculture can have on youth in our community and also the impacts an Ag teacher can have on the lives of students that they teach every day. As I have grown up on our family's farm, I have seen how agriculture can play a key role in a community, but most importantly, a family's life. Agriculture has given me so many opportunities, and I feel as though this is how I can give back to the agricultural community for everything that it has given me.”

What are your career and life goals after you graduate?

“Upon completion of my agriscience education degree at Wilmington College, I hope to find an ag teaching position at a local school in the community. With that, I will share my passion for agriculture with the students that I teach every day, with the hope that they can see the importance of agriculture in our daily lives. Throughout my time teaching, I will continue to work on my own education to one day receive a doctorate in agricultural education, while also becoming an administrator in any school capacity. While I would like to stay in education, if the opportunity were to arise, I would love to land a job with the USDA or ODA promoting agricultural education in schools across the country.”

Congratulations and good luck in the future, Levi!
