Phillips, MaxwellThe Community Foundation for Crawford County is pleased to introduce Maxwell Phillips, a 2021 recipient of one of the four Kenneth Cummins Scholarship awards.

Maxwell, the son of Daniel and Lisa Phillips, is a 2021 graduate of Buckeye Central High School. He will be attending Ohio Northern University this fall and studying computer science.

What inspired you to choose your intended major?

“When I was about seven years old, I discovered the world of videogames. By playing them throughout my childhood, I learned how to use and solve problems with computers. This sparked my interest in my extracurricular activities, computer hardware, coding, problem-solving, and learning about technology in general. That is what inspired me to pursue Computer Science.”

What are your career and life goals after you graduate?

“My primary post-graduation career goal is to obtain a software engineering position at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) or Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (SpaceX). I want to make a difference in the world, and I believe the best way to do that is to assist in making humanity a multi-planetary civilization. I also intend to become financially stable, and to continue to learn about and improve my skills with computers, programming, and technology.”

Congratulations and good luck in the future, Maxwell!
