Gerlach, SorenThe Community Foundation for Crawford County is pleased to introduce Soren Gerlach, a 2021 recipient of one of the two Kiwanis Kahle-Wenner Scholarship awards, the Larry Schiefer Memorial Scholarship award, and one of the two Marvis Schaaf Scholarship awards.

Soren, the son of Bradley Gerlach and Kathleen Wren, is a 2021 graduate of Wynford High School. He will be attending Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology this fall and studying software engineering.

What inspired you to choose your intended major?

“The major I have chosen to pursue at Rose-Hulman is software engineering. I, from a young age, have always enjoyed technology. In addition, I enjoy playing and making video games. Through that enjoyment, I developed an interest in coding and making computer programs function. I even built a game of my own for my senior project in high school.”

What are your career and life goals after you graduate?

“After graduating college, I will use my degree to obtain a job in the video game industry as a programmer. Working for the Xbox division of Microsoft would be my dream position. I will then use my income to support a family of my own and give back to my parents and those in need.”

Congratulations and good luck in the future, Soren!
