House, TeresaThe Community Foundation for Crawford County is pleased to introduce Teresa House, a 2021 recipient of one of the 19 Doug and Renee Leuthold Scholarship awards and one of the 19 Margaret and Donald Wenner, MD Scholarship awards.

Teresa, the daughter of Christy Meacham, is a 2018 graduate of Galion High School. She will be entering her first year of a master’s program in Sports Management and Organizational Leadership at Mount Vernon Nazarene University this fall.

What is your favorite aspect of college life?

“My favorite part of college life is being able to meet and make lifelong friends with people from many different backgrounds. College has brought me my closest friends who I know will stay connected with me long into the future. Being at MVNU, the school has brought me a community of people who will always push me to grow and achieve great things in life.”

What new interest or courses of study have you discovered at college?

“MVNU has allowed me to discover new activities such as kayaking and playing tennis. Students are able to use kayaks and tennis equipment, so in my free time I was able to experience doing those recreational activities with friends.”

In what ways has the college experience changed/improved you?

“College has allowed me to become a more independent student and handle various situations in ways that have challenged me. College has allowed me to have a transition into the work force because of the new opportunities it presents and the ability to tackle challenges and work with other people in different elements.”

What advice would you give an incoming college freshman?

“My advice to incoming college freshmen would be to always be open to doing new, fun things, even if you stay up a little bit later than normal. Always connect to everyone you can, especially your professors, and they will help you in more ways than just providing an education! Lastly, enjoy every moment, because it goes by faster than you know!”

Congratulations and good luck in the future, Teresa!
