Paige Shealy

The Community Foundation for Crawford County is pleased to introduce Paige  Shealy, a 2022 recipient of one of the 19 Doug and Renee Leuthold Scholarship  awards and one of the 19 Margaret and Donald Wenner, MD Scholarship  awards.

Paige, the daughter of Daniel and Susan Shealy, is a 2018 graduate of Buckeye  Central High School. She will be entering her first year of a doctorate program  in Physical Therapy at The Ohio State University this fall.

What is your favorite aspect of college life?

“I have enjoyed many aspects of college, but one of the parts I loved the most was my involvement in extracurricular activities! Getting involved on campus allowed me to take on leadership roles that I otherwise would not have had the opportunity to participate in. I was able to develop and strengthen different parts of my character as well as learn how to have a healthy balance between school and personal life. Extracurricular activities were also a great opportunity to meet new people and I was able to create lasting friendships.”

What new interest or courses of study have you discovered at college?

“While at college I became interested in exercise and physical health. This led to me becoming an Exercise Science major, pursuing a part-time job as a group exercise instructor, and discovering my interest in the career of a Physical Therapist.”

In what ways has the college experience changed/improved you?

“College helped me to grow as an individual. Through my coursework, I improved skills such as time management, perseverance, and creativity. I was also able to take on roles in my sorority, golf team, and part-time jobs that encouraged me to grow through the opportunities they provided.”

What advice would you give an incoming college freshman?

“My advice to incoming freshmen would be that it is okay to feel like you do not know what you are doing quite yet. Everyone has those feelings at some point or another and remember you are not the only one. Take your time discovering what you are interested in and what is important to you!”

What is one item on your bucket list?

“One item on my bucket list is to see the Northern Lights in Alaska. I have always found them to be beautiful and it would be incredible to witness this unique phenomenon firsthand.”

Congratulations and good luck in the future, Paige!
