Sarah Beck

The Community Foundation for Crawford County is pleased to introduce Sarah  Beck, a 2022 recipient of one of the 10 Glen and Alice Beers Scholarship awards.

Sarah, the daughter of Clifford G. Beck III and Rami Beck, is a 2020 graduate of  Colonel Crawford High School. She is in her third year of a Bachelor’s Degree in  Primary Grade Education and Dual Degree with a minor in Online Teaching  and Technologies at Ashland University.

What is your favorite aspect of college life?

“My favorite aspect of college life is finding and growing within communities other than our own. It is amazing to learn more about other cultures, meet new people, and get involved with community projects and events. You can find comfort in knowing that your family, friends, university, and university community are there supporting you the whole time while growing as a young adult. I get to try new hobbies, foods/restaurants, different methods and aspects of learning, and grow as an individual by finding my likes and dislikes.”

What new interest or courses of study have you discovered at college?

“Through Ashland University, I have found a love for the Primary Grades Education area of learning, more specifically, the Intervention Education side of learning. I was challenged and grew as a future educator with these courses related to Intervention Education. A new course of interest would be Online Teaching and Technologies because I can see the need for that qualification now within schools.”

In what ways has the college experience changed/improved you?

“I have become more independent and continue to work hard for everything that I have now. I work hard to continue my education and make that investment in myself and future. I am more outgoing, strong-willed, and ready to learn at any given time. Creating and maintaining relationships has also been such a strong growth area for me in college.”

What advice would you give an incoming college freshman?

“Remember that it is okay to ask questions! Take your time and get everything sorted the first so you can focus on school and your personal life while adjusting to this new way of living. There are so many people out there ready to support you on your journey ahead.”

What is one item on your bucket list?

“An item on my bucket list would be to visit Germany again. It was one of my favorite places I have been able to visit, and the culture when you are there is one of a kind. I would love to continue exploring the country and learn more about it.”

Congratulations and good luck in the future, Sarah!
