Hailey Dzugan

The Community Foundation for Crawford County is pleased to introduce Hailey  Dzugan, a 2023 recipient of one of the six Arlene H. Smith Scholarship awards  and one of the two Dr. Joseph and Susan Shadeed Scholarship awards.

Hailey, is a 2011 graduate of Crestline High School. She will be entering her  first year of an Associate’s Degree in Nursing at North Central State College  this fall.

What is your favorite aspect of college life?

“I love college because I feel as though I can go at my own pace. It makes a person set goals and be responsible for their own grades. It has taught me time management and that the only person that can determine your success… is yourself!”

What new interest or courses of study have you discovered at college?

“I wouldn’t say that I have found new interests, but I would say that it has made me even more interested in my career path.”

In what ways has the college experience changed/improved you?

“It has helped me take responsibility for myself and the direction of my life, which trickles into other aspects of my life.”

What advice would you give an incoming college freshman?

“TIME MANAGEMENT! This is everything. Your professor isn’t going to coddle you like your high school teachers did. They are here to direct you and point you in the right direction… it is your responsibility to do the rest.”

What is one item on your bucket list?

“To visit the Nazi concentration camps. I have ALWAYS been interested in history, and this is one place that I would love to see in person. To be able to see and feel… would be incredible!”

Congratulations and good luck in the future, Hailey!
