Posted by Rachel Jarvis on Mon, Jun 12, 2023

Jackson Moody  The Community Foundation for Crawford County is pleased to introduce  Jackson Moody, a 2023 recipient of one of the nine Glen and Alice Beers  Scholarship awards and one of the 19 Margaret and Donald Wenner, MD  Scholarship awards.

Jackson, the son of Charles Moody and Amy O'Connell, is a 2019 graduate of  Bucyrus High School. He will be entering his first year of graduate school to  obtain his Master of Divinity at Nazarene Theological Seminary this fall.

What is your favorite aspect of college life?

“By far my favorite aspect of college life is intentional community. During my time at Mount Vernon Nazarene University, I cherished doing life and school with a group of wonderful people. I look forward to the same during my time at Nazarene Theological Seminary.”

What new interest or courses of study have you discovered at college?

“In college, I fell in love with the task of theology, which I now am pursuing wholeheartedly in my graduate degree. My hope is to someday serve in both the church, as a pastor, and the academy, as a professor of Christian theology.”

In what ways has the college experience changed/improved you?

“College has opened me up to so many opportunities for growth. It has led me to a deepened walk with my God, with my family, and with the friends I have the blessing of doing life with. College stretches you to see the world differently, and I could not be more grateful for that.”

What advice would you give an incoming college freshman?

“I would tell upcoming freshmen to lean in. Join clubs, make friends, and try new things. These can be some of the richest years of your life if you let them be.”

What is one item on your bucket list?

“I would love to tour across Europe someday. My time at MVNU’s Christian Ministry program engendered a love for Church tradition in me. I would love to experience some of this tradition in the grand architecture of Europe’s cathedrals.”

Congratulations and good luck in the future, Jackson!
