Kennedy Deppen

The Community Foundation for Crawford County is pleased to introduce  Kennedy Deppen, a 2023 recipient of one of the seven Kenneth Cummins  Scholarship awards.

Kennedy, the daughter of Jason Deppen and Rachel Crouse, is a 2023 graduate  of Buckeye Central High School. She will be attending Bowling Green State  University this fall and studying Early Childhood Education.

What inspired you to choose your intended major?

“There were many things that inspired me to go into early childhood education, but there is one reason in specific- I want to help others. Specifically, I want to help others who are unable to help themselves. There are many young children who lack a positive influence, and if I could help point my students in the right direction and set them on the path to a successful, happy life, then that makes the whole process completely worth it to me. I also want to make sure that these students have a positive influence to take after, as well as someone who listens to them and gives them the love and attention that they need and deserve because there are so many children who lack a positive influence in their life.”

What are your career and life goals after you graduate?

“The goals that I hope to achieve throughout being an educator are many, but they are really quite simple- I hope to set my students up for success in all of their future endeavors, whether that be in life, on the court, or in the classroom. I want to see these children succeed, and not only that, I want them to feel loved, appreciated, and heard through it all.”

Congratulations and good luck in the future, Kennedy!
