The Community Foundation for Crawford County is pleased to introduce Marissa Black, a 2023 recipient of one of the five Merle and Peg Hutson Scholarship awards.
Marissa, the daughter of Todd Black and Miranda Jenkins, is a 2023 graduate of Crestline High School. She is attending The Ohio State University this fall and studying Sonography.
What inspired you to choose your intended major?
"I decided that I really wanted to go into healthcare during the COVID pandemic. It made me realize just how important healthcare workers are. I plan to specialize in obstetrics. I made this decision based on my major life goal, building a family. Sonography is allowing me to watch, help, and be a part of others' lives on that same journey."
What are your career and life goals after you graduate?
"After I graduate, I plan to join a travel agency and take traveling positions out of state. I decided to do this because traveling is something else that is a passion of mine. I want to be able to take the opportunity to travel and work at the same time while it is still an option. Whenever I decide to stop that path, I want to come back home and work somewhere more local, or I would love to live in a city and work at a children's hospital."
Congratulations and good luck in the future, Marissa!
