Ruth Kaple

The Community Foundation for Crawford County is pleased to introduce Ruth  Kaple, a 2023 recipient of the Jeanne A. Miller Scholarship award and one of  the six L. Earl Smith Scholarship awards.

Ruth, the daughter of Brett Kaple and Holly Kaple, is a 2023 graduate of  Wynford High School. She will be attending Hocking College this fall and  studying Wildlife Resource Management.

What inspired you to choose your intended major?

"I have always enjoyed spending my time outdoors hiking, biking, running, riding horses, swimming, hunting, fishing, and more. I appreciate all types of life, which goes greatly with my intended major, Wildlife Resource Management. Through high school, my favorite subject was always science, like Biology or Anatomy classes. I always got the best grades in science classes as well. I know that I will be truly interested in all of the classes that I will be taking at Hocking College, with several outdoor classes and hands-on labs. I look forward to starting college next fall."

What are your career and life goals after you graduate?

"After I graduate from Hocking College, I will have an Associates Degree in Wildlife Resource Management. I am still debating on whether I want to obtain a Bachelors degree by going to West Virginia University. West Virginia University is partnered with Hocking College, so I will get in-state tuition to go there, where I can get my Bachelors in Wildlife Resource Management to potentially become a Wildlife Biologist, which would be my long-term career goal."

Congratulations and good luck in the future, Ruth!
