2023 Scholarship Recipient Spotlight: Sophia Beck

Posted by Rachel Jarvis on Wed, Jul 05, 2023

Sophia Beck  The Community Foundation for Crawford County is pleased to introduce Sophia  Beck, a 2023 recipient of one of the six L. Earl Smith Scholarship awards and  one of the two Rollie & Esther Wilson Scholarship awards.

Sophia, the daughter of Clifford Beck and Rami Beck, is a 2023 graduate of  Colonel Crawford High School. She will be attending The University of  Northwestern Ohio this fall and studying Agribusiness Management.

What inspired you to choose your intended major?

"The main reason why I chose this major is because I enjoy working on the farm with my grandfather and uncle. I want to bring my knowledge that I obtain from college back to Crawford County and help local farmers. Agriculture is a large category with many different ways you can go, but I am positively influenced by those around me who studied the same thing. I hope to find myself in a similar setting and positively influence my younger peers and those around me."

What are your career and life goals after you graduate?

"My career and life goals include: moving back to Crawford County to help on my grandfather's farm, be involved in community events around Crawford County, and to coach a sports team. I hope to find myself coaching basketball, but I love all sports."

Congratulations and good luck in the future, Sophia!
