2023 Scholarship Recipient Spotlight: Sydney Beamer

Posted by Rachel Jarvis on Mon, Jul 17, 2023

Sydney Beamer  The Community Foundation for Crawford County is pleased to introduce  Sydney Beamer, a 2023 recipient of one of the seven Kenneth Cummins  Scholarship awards.

Sydney, the daughter of Jeff Beamer and Jenni Beamer, is a 2023 graduate of  Buckeye Central High School. She will be attending Bowling Green State  University this fall and studying Accounting.

What inspired you to choose your intended major?

"I was inspired to pursue my intended accounting major because I was amazed by numbers at a young age. I have always been academically advanced in math, so it was relatively easy to determine what I wanted to major in after graduating high school. Another reason why I chose to pursue an accounting degree pathway is because of my business teacher at Buckeye Central. Mr. Oswald made my accounting class fun and easy. Accounting is something that I can do relatively easily and allows me to work individually as well as with others. Ultimately, my love for numbers and the math aspects of careers inspired me to pursue an accounting career as my future aspiration."

What are your career and life goals after you graduate?

"After graduating college, I want to pursue my career goal of starting my own accounting firm in a rural area like my hometown, New Washington, OH. Growing up, I was offered a generous amount of support from my local community members. I want to repay my community for always supporting me with my academics and extracurriculars. My life goals consist of marrying a hardworking man and starting a family in a small house out in the country. I want to stay in the state and close to home."

Congratulations and good luck in the future, Sydney!
