Taylor Niese

The Community Foundation for Crawford County is pleased to introduce Taylor  Niese, a 2023 recipient of one of the nine Glen and Alice Beers Scholarship  awards.

Taylor, the daughter/step-daughter of Dan Niese and Jenny Niese and the  daughter/step-daughter of Sheila Sobers and Erik Sobers, is a 2018 graduate of  Buckeye Central High School. She will be entering her sixth year of a doctorate  program in Pharmacy (PharmD) at Ohio Northern University this fall. Taylor  also has her Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish.

What is your favorite aspect of college life?

“My favorite aspect of college life is the opportunities it provides. For example, in January I was able to study abroad in Spain. Also, I have an internship at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, which is an opportunity I was given because of college and my area of study.”

What new interest or courses of study have you discovered at college?

“While at college, I became increasingly interested in Spanish and ended up adding a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Spanish to my pharmacy degree.”

In what ways has the college experience changed/improved you?

“College has allowed me to become more independent while also having the support of my family nearby. As a result, I have grown personally and professionally.”

What advice would you give an incoming college freshman?

“My advice for an incoming college freshman would be to not forget to take some time for yourself. College can be stressful at times, but setting aside time for yourself to do something relaxing like workout, read, or watch Netflix can help get you through those times.”

What is one item on your bucket list?

“My main bucket list item is to travel as much as possible. I eventually hope to visit all 50 states as well as several other countries.”

Congratulations and good luck in the future, Taylor!
