2024 Scholarship Recipient Spotlight: Sheena Parsons

Sheena ParsonsThe Community Foundation for Crawford County is pleased to introduce Sheena Parsons, a 2024 recipient of one of the six Arlene H. Smith Scholarship awards and one of the 20 Margaret and Donald Wenner, MD Scholarship awards.

Sheena, the daughter of Larry Parsons and Stacy Parsons, is a 2022 graduate of Colonel Crawford High School. She is in her second year of an Associate's Degree to become a Registered Nurse at Marion Technical College.

 

 

What is your favorite aspect of college life and why?

"My favorite aspect of college life is learning all of the skills of nursing. Knowing that I am working towards a career that I am very passionate about makes me enjoy college so much. I also enjoy getting the opportunity to meet new people that are pushing towards the same goal as me."

What new interests or courses of study have you discovered at college?

"A new course that I have discovered in college is dosage calculations. I have always loved math, and I have enjoyed using it to learn more about how to keep my patients safe."

In what way has the college experience changed/improved you?

"The college experience has improved me by pushing me to do things more out of my comfort zone including asking questions and always taking hands-on opportunities when they are presented."

What advice would you give an incoming college freshman?

"Advice that I would give an incoming college freshman is to always make sure you are leaving time for yourself!"

What is one item on your bucket list and why?

"One item on my bucket list is to swim with dolphins!"
